Granby Lake
Granby Lake, the second largest body of water in Colorado, was built in the 1940′s to serve as a water resource for the Colorado Front Range. It is the largest storage reservoir in the Colorado-Big Thompson water diversion system. Located 4 1/2 miles northeast of Granby Colorado, this lake is located on the Colorado River. Construction of the dam and reservoir started in the 1940′s and cost $ 12.9 million dollars. With 40 miles of shoreline and the potential for a water depth of 221 feet, Granby Lake is great for fishing, boating, waterskiing!

One thing you’ll notice right away is Granby Lake’s beautiful, blue-green waters, perfect for power and sail boating, water skiing, wind surfing and fishing. The eco-system surrounding the lake provides a productive habitat for the Bald Eagle and the Osprey as well as elk, deer, and other wildlife. Wildlife viewers will enjoy the many opportunities they’ll have to observe the creatures of this beautiful forest.
