Wolf Creek Ski Area
Wolf Creek is one of Colorado’s oldest and finest ski resorts. “Our trademark is friendly employees and abundant, light powder snow.” Wolf Creek is a high alpine ski resort, 10,300 feet at the base and 11,900 feet at the summit. With an average snowfall of 465 inches we are proud of the “most snow in Colorado” honor. All our trails are pretty evenly distributed between beginner, intermediate and expert slopes. There is something here for everyone to enjoy. Our little ones are treated to ski lessons at the Wolf Creek’s Children’s Ski School Program, which is an on-the-snow program. We call them our “Wolf Pups” and have a center designed exclusively for them. The building has easy access to the Magic Carpet, Nova Lift, lessons, lunch, snacks and lots of fun. Bring your family to enjoy the experience at Wolf Creek Ski Resort!

We like to remind our visitors that “sunscreen and sunglasses are necessary in the high altitude sun. The weather conditions can change rapidly so be prepared with extra clothing and goggles. Take it easy on your first day at higher elevations and drink plenty of water before driving up the mountain.” It’s always a good idea to be careful at altitudes like you find at Wolf Creek. Taking a slower approach and keeping well hydrated will help you enjoy your time here. Whether the sun is shining or it’s a cloudy day, you still get enough rays from the sun to get burned. Protection for your eyes is essential in sun and snowy conditions.
Another feature of our ski area that people enjoy is the nearly 10 kilometers of cross country trails. In Alberta Park, there is a 4 kilometer loop which goes around the natural meadows. “An additional 6 kilometer loop takes you down to Alberta Reservoir and back through the trees. Tracks are groomed regularly for both classical and skate skiers.” We also welcome snowshoers, and the use of all the cross country trail is complimentary. The only caution we would mention is that the area is not patrolled, so use the buddy system for safety, come prepared for your day and remember to allow enough time to complete the tour well before dark.
