Winter Park Ski Area

TFresh powder is great at Winter Parkhe alpine ski resort of Winter Park has been in business since 1939. The resort was run by the City of Denver until 2002, when a partnership was formed with a Canadian corporation in Vancouver, British Columbia, and they took over the operation at that time. Over the decades, many Colorado residents enjoyed learning how to ski and snowboard in this extremely beautiful area. The city of Winter Park is located a short distance away and skiers could access the base area of the ski resort through the Moffatt Tunnel via the Ski Train which operated until the spring of 2009. The train runs from Union Station in Denver to the WP resort and back, and plans are in effect to reopen the Ski Train as early as winter 2009. The famous Mary Jane is one of three mountain peaks in the area and is known for the moguls, tree skiing and difficult terrain.  In addition to being close by Denver, and extremely popular, Winter Park is very proud of the fact that they receive more annual snowfall than any other ski area in Colorado. December through March typically sees the most accumulation of snow, and spring skiing in the Colorado mountains is a favorite of many. From beginners to advanced and professionals, Winter Park is a wonderful place to enjoy alpine skiing!
