First run in champagne powderSteamboat is known as “Ski Town, USA” and is the home to many world-class athletes who have represented the USA in the Winter Olympics. “Steamboat has a rich tradition in the snow sports disciplines; Alpine, Nordic, Jumping, Freestyle and Snowboarding–and an Olympic heritage that dates back nearly 75 years,” said Rick DeVos, executive director of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. More Olympic athletes are being groomed, but to date a record 69 have gone to the Games and made Flying high off Howelsen Hill's 90m ski jump120 Olympic appearances during 16 Winter Games. The high altitude alpine mountains have a lot to offer in the training of skiers. Beautiful sunshine and crisp, clean high mountain air build endurance and strength in the athletes who train here. World-class or beginner, everyone is welcome to enjoy Steamboat Springs, Mt. Werner, Howelsen Hill and the ski jump. The Steamboat area has such a rich history, that even non-skiers will find much to do in visiting these areas and the museums that outline the Nordic and Alpine skiing tradition.

A series of snow storms during the 2010/2011 season blanketed the Steamboat Ski Resort resulting in the snowiest November on record. 90 inches of light, fluffy and super-dry signature Champagne Powder® piled up at mid-mountain. The previous November record was 83 inches during the 2005/06 season.
