Extreme Terrain at Silverton MountainThe mountain is left in it’s natural state except for the avalanche work to keep the mountain safer. “There is one chairlift that takes you into a high alpine environment surrounded by amazing ski lines in every direction. The terrain is entirely for the advanced and expert skier and those who enjoy adventure.” This unique mountain experience first started when Silverton opened for business on January 19th, 2002. Because the elevation is so high, early season opening is experienced and staying open late into the season as well. Ski patrol guides are always available to help ensure the safety of visitors and watch for the Natural, rugged skiing for expertsdangers of avalanche. Because there is access to higher elevation by the crest of the mountain, you could easily get a 3,000 ft. vertical drop. And now in October, the skiing has begun on Silverton Mountain. Fresh snow is falling and a settled base means they are ready to receive skiers. Are you ready for the expert skiers Alpine experience of a lifetime? It’s not far away, just miles outside of Durango and in the most incredible mountains Colorado has to offer.
