Beaver Creek Resort

The Village at Beaver Creek ResortIn 1972, visionaries from Vail began designing a very expensive and state-of-the-art Euro style resort which they named Beaver Creek. First envisioned by Pete Seibert, co-founder and former owner of Vail Resort, this village was thought to be a contender for the 1976 Winter Olympics alpine events. However, when Denver backed out from holding the Olympic Winter Games in November 1972, Seibert’s plans of building the resort collapsed. Then later, Harry Bass, an oil tycoon of Golaid Oil, picked up Seibert’s dream of building Beaver Creek, and so in the 1980–81 ski season, Beaver Creek opened along with the first hotel property, The Charter at Beaver Creek. In 1989, the resort was able to host the World Ski Championships and then again in 1999. Now the resort is host to the Visa “Birds of Prey” World Cup downhill each year as well as being the home of spectacular golf courses. Visitors are now flocking to the Resort and enjoying the beauty and elegance it has to offer.
