Copper Mountain is what the locals call “a nearly perfect mountain”, one of Colorado’s best ski areas. In 1971, Chuck Lewis, Copper’s founder, negotiated a deal to purchase 280 acres at the base of the mountain for the ski area. That summer, the initial construction began on the ski trails.
