Centennial Ranch
Between Ridgway and Montrose, Colorado, lies the Centennial Ranch, where an extraordinary cowboy named Kontny and his wife, Joan, built their home and a traditional log line cabin. The structures were given careful attention as to historical authenticity down to the smallest aesthetic details. The ranch was originally settled in 1879 by the Smith family, and was purchased by Kontny in 1991. He set out to restore the ranch, and has accomplished a monumental task. The public was welcomed in September of 2011 to an “Open Ranch” event to celebrate the preservation and restoration of the historic buildings.
