Lake George Colorado
Lake George Colorado is a small Colorado mountain town located in the South Central region of Colorado on US-24. In the late 1800’s the town served as a railway stop for the Colorado Midland Railway. The towns lake, originally called George’s Lake, supplied the railway with ice. Fed by the South Platte River, the lake, now known as Lake George, still freezes almost solid in the winter. One of the largest fires in Colorado history, the Hayman Fire, was started near Lake George.
