Green Mountain Falls Gazebo Lake
This beautiful lake with the little island where the Gazebo is located is one of the most popular attractions in the town. It’s a picture perfect location for weddings, picnics, fishing or just relaxing on the shoreline.
The Church in the Wildwood
Another well known landmark in Green Mountain Falls, the Church in the Wildwood was established in 1889. Over time the original structure has been expanded, but the original structure still reflects it’s rustic charm.
Catamount Trail
Catamount falls and Catamount Reservoir are just two of the scenic rewards you’ll receive if you hike the Catamount Trail. You’ll also enjoy some great views of Green Mountain Falls as you proceed up this relatively steep trail. To find the trailhead, walk up Hondo Avenue and proceed through the gate, follow the signs for Catamount Falls.
Waldo Canyon Loop Trail
Another popular trail with hikers and bicyclers alike is the Waldo Canyon Loop Trail. This Colorado nature trail overlooks Waldo Canyon and Colorado Highway 24. This popular 7 mile round trip loop is appropriate for beginning hikers, despite an elevation gain of 1,280 feet. Along the way you may spot a number of different types of Colorado wildlife; deer, bighorn sheep and all types of birds. A wide array of plant life can also be viewed along the trail. As you proceed around the loop signs and interpretive stations that detail the geology and wildlife in the area.
Mueller State Park
Just a short 20 minutes from Green Mountain Falls you find Mueller State Park. This is one of the 44 Colorado State Parks. This 5,000 acre Colorado State Park offers year round activities. There are 132 campsites to choose from, camper cabins and Yurts too. If you’re planning a day trip, enjoy a break in one of the Mueller State Park picnic grounds. Enjoy hiking? There are 50 miles of trails to explore! And that’s just a glimpse of the many activities that you can enjoy. If you’re planning a stay in Green Mountain Falls, make sure to set aside at least a day in this beautiful State Park! To get to Mueller State Park, take Highway 24 from Green Mountain Falls into the town of Woodland Park Colorado. Near the end of the Woodland Park town limits, turn left (South) on CO-67. Proceed approximately 3.7 miles on CO-67 to the Mueller State Park Entrance. The total distance from Green Mountain Falls to Mueller State Park is 16.5 miles, about 25 minutes one way.
Cripple Creek Colorado
Like to do a little gambling? Enjoy the Ol’ Wild West? Cripple Creek Colorado provides both! This historic Colorado town got it’s start during the Gold Rush and it hasn’t stopped since. Visit restored historic buildings and residences. See what it was like to live in this high mountain town, catch a little gold rush fever, then hit the Casino’s. There are Casino’s in the old Saloon buildings making you feel like you’re living in the 1800′s. Just down the street, you can find a completely modern Casino, set in an old west theme. This little town never goes to sleep! To get to Cripple Creek from Green Mountain Falls, take US Highway-24 west into Woodland Park Colorado. Near the end of the Woodland Park town limits, turn left (South) on CO-67. Continue south 19 miles on CO-67 to Cripple Creek.
