Golden Colorado
The City of Golden Colorado is the County seat of Jefferson County, Colorado. It sits in the foothills of the Front Range Rocky Mountains along Clear Creek and was originally a mining camp during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush era. It was initially named Golden City and since 1859 has been a prominent part of the Colorado Front Range. The location of Golden was key because it was on the crossroads of important roads which went into the Colorado mountains. It actually became the capital of Colorado during the time when Colorado was still a Territory in 1862-67.
