Delta Colorado Attractions

When you visit Delta Colorado “The City of Murals” – there are many things you’ll want to see.  If you are heading to the Grand Mesa area just outside of Delta, there are hunting and fishing and outdoor activities all around. Crawford is in Delta County, near the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and has its own State Park. The Delta County Museum is available to showcase the cultural heritage and natural history of the region, as well as the Fort Uncompahgre, a living history museum with an original old fur trading post and buildings inhabited by costumed interpreters to show you what it was like to live in that era. See the Ute Council Tree, a gathering place for historic tribal discussions. From the heart of Delta to the surrounding communities, there are so many attractions and destinations to plan a visit to see.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

There are multiple overlooks for sightseeing and a road to the bottom of the canyon. Delta County Historical Museum

Dry Mesa Quarry

Seventeen different genera of dinosaurs have been discovered at this site since 1971, as well as a number of other fossils, including pterosaurs, birds, crocodiles, fishes and mammals. Fort Uncompahgre Living History Museum

Grand Mesa National Forest

The world’s largest flat-top mountain transcends a mile above the surrounding Colorado and Gunnison Rivers. The mesa was formed as lava seeped upward through fissures in the earth 10 million years ago. Visitors of the Park can enjoy excellent hiking and horseback riding on over twenty marked trails.
