Crested Butte, Colorado is known as “Colorado’s Last Great Ski Town”. It’s a National Historic District, located in the Southwest part of the state, 28 miles north of Gunnison. From the time the city started out as a bustling coal mining town in the late 1880’s to the present day, people love to visit Crested Butte. In all seasons there are fun things to do, and the famous ski resort is just minutes away on a free shuttle bus. You will be amazed at the beauty of the Colorado Rocky Mountain views, the spectacular wildflowers, the fascinating historic buildings, art galleries, shops and museums and all the recreational opportunities you can think of.

The locals in Crested Butte pride themselves on being leaders in the area and among Colorado ski towns in the environmental arena. The goal was to create and maintain a sustainable community and they’ve made great strides in doing that. Land trusts preserve thousands of acres of beautiful Rocky Mountain land, Open Space of over 1,579 acres has been preserved, and pedestrian travel and access to these open spaces has been accomplished. The town is focused on being energy efficient, water conscious, careful to avoid light pollution, and making public transportation available to cut down on auto emissions. They warmly invite you to come and visit and see for yourself all that Crested Butte has to offer. Crested Butte Parks & Recreation provides year round activities for children and adults. With twenty-two acres divided between eight different parks, we offer many different sports and activities.
