Commerce City encourages healthy living and active lifestyles through a variety of recreational opportunities. From dance to drawing, from swimming to weightlifting, the city recreational center offers a variety of programs for your benefit. Our 67,000 square-foot Recreation Center offers a wide variety of health, fitness and creative programs, activities with a dance studio, full gymnastics center, indoor swimming pool and sauna, three racquetball courts, two basketball and volleyball courts and more! Dick’s Sporting Goods Park
The park is comprised of the 18,000-seat home stadium of the Colorado Rapids and its surrounding 24-field, fully-lit soccer complex. Tickets may be purchased online or at the Main Box Office. Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge
The Refuge provides environmental education and interpretive programs, catch-and-release recreational fee fishing, nearly nine miles of trails, wildlife viewing opportunities and site tours for the public, and is a sanctuary for more than 330 species of animals, including wild bison, deer, coyotes, bald eagles and burrowing owls. Barr Lake State Park
Barr Lake State Park has activities for everyone. Bicyclists of all ages and abilities, nature hikers and horseback riders enjoy the level 8.8-mile multi-use trail that circles the lake. Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the wildlife viewing stations and the park’s wildlife refuge. More than 350 species of birds have been spotted in the park. Numerous bald eagles winter at Barr Lake and one pair stays to nest and raise its young every year. Barr Lake’s Nature Center has displays about the park’s wildlife and you can have your questions answered by a naturalist. Fishing and boating, including kayaks and canoes enjoy the lake’s calm waters: Powerboats are limited to electric trolling or gasoline motors 10 horsepower or less.
