Coaldale mountain range views near the Collegiate Peaks BywayNearby Coaldale is the Collegiate Peaks Byway, which is spectacular, and rich in history. The 57 mile route is paved and parallels the Continental Divide at the foot of the Sawatch Range. This is the land of the Colorado 14ers, and boasts the highest concentration of 14,000+ ft. mountains in the country. There are miles of national forest and public access areas to enjoy, and here is where the Colorado State gemstone, the Aquamarine is found – mined only on Mt. Antero.

Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway – This paved 57-mile route parallels the Continental Divide at the foot of the Sawatch Range, the highest concentration of 14,000 foot peaks in the country. The greater part follows the Arkansas River, one of the state’s premier trout fishing resources.

Bighorn RV Park -  a family owned and operated resort with an RV park, cabins, motel, and tenting area. Located in the scenic Bighorn Sheep Canyon, and nestled on the Arkansas River in the sunny Colorado Rocky Mountains close to Coaldale, the namesake Bighorn Sheep are frequently seen on the rugged rock cliffs across the river.
