William H Briggle House

William H Briggle House in Breckenridge ColoradoEver wonder what Breckenridge High Society Life was like? Not everyone that lived in and around Breckenridge Colorado in the late 1800’s was a miner or trapper. Some came to Breckenridge knowing that the town would need more that Saloons and Retailer! William H Briggle was one of those individuals.

Traveling from Canton Ohio with his wife Katie, William came initially to work as a cashier at a Breckenridge bank. Before long Briggle was getting involved in politics and in 1903 and 1905 he was elected Mayor of Breckenridge. Life was good and their modest one room cabin was soon enlarged into one of the foremost Breckenridge Victorian homes, with 6 rooms on the main level and 3 upstairs!

Today, you can tour the beautifully restored home of William and Kathleen Briggle and see what it was like to be part of Breckenridge’s elite. The William H Briggle House is open to the public from June to September. Museum entrance is free of charge, however, a $ 5.00 donation is suggested.
