Avon Colorado
Avon, Colorado is located in the Eagle River Valley, near the base of Beaver Creek Ski Resort and eight miles west of Vail. It is a beautiful location, welcoming to both residents and guests, and has many interesting things to see and do when you visit. In addition to the skiing opportunities in nearby Vail and Beaver Creek, there are events, recreational activities and many wonderful restaurants and shops to enjoy. People enjoy fishing, rafting and kayaking nearby during the warmer months. The May Gallery at Avon’s Vilar Center for the Arts hosts top exhibits every year, and features everything from Native American art to glass works.

Avon is the most populous town in Eagle County, Colorado and is only two miles north of Beaver Creek Resort. It was first known only as a railroad station in 1889 and was not incorporated until August of 1978. Now, the town is home to an independent ski manufacturing company named Liberty Skis, has over 6,000 full-time residents and a public transportation system which links Avon to nearby Vail, Minturn, Leadville, Edwards, Eagle, Gypsum and Dotsero. The small, private airport that was operated by Rocky Mountain Airways is no longer open, but people wanting to fly in may use the Eagle County Airport which is 27 miles west, or Denver International Airport (DIA), 130 miles east. The most common route to Avon is Interstate 70 which connects Avon to both Vail and Denver.
