Colorado Railroad Museum

It houses thousands of rare old photographs, artifacts and documents illustrating the colorful histories of the railroads which have served the state for over 125 years. Spectacular 1 inch = 1 foot locomotive and car models by Herb Votaw are also displayed. A bay window contains a reconstructed depot telegrapher’s office, complete with a working “sounder”. Every nook and corner contains its share of fascinating railroad items to enjoy. Be sure to visit the lower level, which is home to the Denver HO Society’s “Denver and Western” large operating model train layout. Open to the public until 9:00 PM on the first Thursday of each month, it features HO, HOn3 and electrics that represent Colorado rail history in miniature.

Lakeside Amusement Park

Right off the I-70 corridor, it’s nearby Denver, Lakewood, Arvada and Wheat Ridge Colorado, at I-70 and Sheridan. The Park sits on a picturesque lake with great mountain views, features trains, a merry-go-round, a drop tower, bumper cars, and many spinning rides, as well as one of the few wooden roller coasters left in the country – the 70 year old “Cyclone”. Cussler Museum

Some of these showroom vehicles have been featured in the Clive Cussler novels, and used by the hero Dirk Pitt. People who love cars will love this museum and the interesting and unusual exhibits.
