Meadow Ridge Campground Entrance Sign - Image by: Pike National Forest ServiceThe Meadow Ridge National Forest Campground is located about 4 miles from Woodland Park Colorado in the Pike National Forest and overlooks Rampart Reservoir.  The campground has 19 campsites that are nicely dispersed among the Aspen and Ponderosa Pine forest. There is a mix of back-in and pull-through sites in this Colorado campground. The back-in sites will accommodate RV’s anywhere from 27 feet to 40 feet in length. There are four pull-through campsites to choose from. They will vary in length from 20 feet to 70 feet. The aprons are all paved, making setup easy. The season for Meadow Ridge Campground is late April through mid-October, weather permitting.

Meadow Ridge Campground is one of two campgrounds in the Rampart Reservoir Recreation Area, making it a popular destination for boating and fishing enthusiasts. The short walk from the campground to the Rampart reservoir makes it convenient for those wanting to fish from shore or those just wanting to enjoy the scenery around this Colorado Reservoir. For those with boats, the boat launch is just a short drive from across the dam. The road across the dam is open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Visitors wanting to launch their boats will want to take note of the fact that the boat launch is only open for use, Thursday through Sunday. Rampart Reservoir isn’t your only fishing opportunity, Nichols Reservoir is just a 1.8 mile hike from the Rampart Reservoir Dam and Northfield Reservoir is just a short hike downstream from Nichols Reservoir.

Water sports aren’t the only activities for you to enjoy during your stay at Meadow Ridge Campground! Hiking and biking on the local trails is also a favorite pastime. There are four major trails by the campground for you to enjoy; the Rainbow Gulch Trail, Rampart Reservoir Trail, Aspen Gulch Trail and the Nichols Trail. Hikers are welcome on all four of these trails. Mountain Bikers can enjoy the Rainbow Gulch and Rampart Reservoir trails. A trip into Woodland Park or any of the other Colorado towns along the old Ute Pass Trail offers hours of entertainment. Check out the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, the kids will get a kick out of this place and so will you! Or how about a trip into Manitou Springs Colorado, Colorado Springs Colorado and Old Colorado City. These three towns are basically joined at the hip and there are more things to see and do than you can possible imagine! Here are just a few of the attractions; Air Force Academy, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Cheyenne Mountain State Park, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railroad and much more!

Directions to Meadow Ridge Campground

General Directions: In Woodland Park, turn north on Baldwin (which turns into Rampart Range Road). Go about 2 miles to Loy Creek Road turn right and then to FDR 300 turn right (Rampart Range Road). Follow signs. Rampart Reservoir entrance is about 4 miles further on the left side of the road.

  • Maximum 8 persons per site (except for group campgrounds)
  • Quiet Hours: 10:00 pm to 6:00 am
  • Check in: 2:00 pm Checkout: 12:00 pm
  • This campground requires a 2 night minimum stay on weekends and  a 3 night minimum stay on holiday weekends.
  • There is a maximum of two vehicles per site. An additional fee of $5 will be collected on-site for extra vehicles.
  • Be aware, because Meadow Ridge Campground is located in bear country, all food, coolers and toiletries must be stored inside an enclosed vehicle at all times in order to prevent bear conflicts.
  • Please review the bulletin board or consult the campground host for specific rules, regulations and restrictions in this campground
  • Make campsite reservations a minimum of 4 days prior to your arrival or up to 240 days in advance; First come first serve sites may also be available.
