Located between Twin Lakes and the Mt Elbert Forebay Reservoir, the Lakeview Campground has thirty campsites available. With potential views of all three lakes, this San Isabel National Forest Campground is close to Leadville Colorado, Buena Vista Colorado and Granite Colorado. It’s campsites are distributed among Ponderosa Pine trees and Sagebrush. Since this is a high altitude campground, you expect daytime temperatures in the 70′s to low 80′s and night times in the 40′s.
There are many activity choices in the Lakeview Campground neighborhood. The fishing for Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Lake Trout and Rainbow Trout is good in the Twin Lakes or the Mount Elbert Forebay. Hiking is also a favorite pass time when visiting this Colorado campground. The Mt Elbert trail, South Pine Creek Trail and Mt Massive Trail are all close by. The Mt Massive Wilderness area provides many hiking, sight seeing and wildlife viewing opportunities also. Wildlife is abundant all around the Lakeview campground, so plan on devoting some time to enjoying all the birds and animals. A visit to the historic town of Leadville is a must and strolling through downtown Buena Vista is a great way to spend an afternoon.
