Massive Wilderness area. The gurgling of Elbert Creek will put you into a deep restful sleep at night!
There are many fun activities to enjoy in and around this Colorado campground. You can fish for Brook trout in Halfmoon Creek or Elbert Lake. Soak your tired feet in the creek after a hike on one of the many trails nearby; Willow Creek Trail, Mt. Massive Trail (14 miles round trip), Mt. Elbert Trail (9 miles round trip), and the North Halfmoon Trail. These trails are all open to hikers and horseback riders. Access to the Colorado Trail is also available and mountain bike riders can enjoy Halfmoon Road and the Mt. Elbert Creek Pipeline Loop. ATV riders can also enjoy a ride along Halfmoon Road.
Please be aware that the Elbert Creek Campground is under a food storage requirement due to the Black Bear population in the area. All food and refuse must be stored in a bear resistant manner unless you are preparing or eating your food.
