Cove National Forest Campground is a small campground located in Elevenmile Canyon, not far from Lake George Colorado - Image by: Pike National Forest ServiceCove National Forest Campground, located in the scenic Elevenmile Canyon Recreation Area and it features 4 campsites on the South Platte River. Two of the Cove Campground sites will accommodate small RV’s, 16 feet or smaller. The other two sites are tent only sites. There are some interesting rock formations in and around the campground but there is very little shade in this campground. The campsites are all very close to each other, but the close proximity of the Cove Campground sites to the South Platte River is a plus. The typical season for this campground Pike National Forest Campground is mid-May through early September, weather permitting.

There are a number of activities available in the area surrounding Cove Campground. Hiking and mountain biking are two of the favorites. Kayaking in the South Platte is another favorite pastime in the canyon. And for those that enjoy fishing, you can fish the South Platte River that flows past the campground or you take a short drive over to Eleven Mile Reservoir in Eleven Mile State Park. If you’re interested in some Gold Medal fishing, Spinney Mountain Reservoir in Spinney Mountain State Park is also close by. Like Rock Climbing? Eleven Mile Canyon offers some excellent rock climbing opportunities!

Be aware that there is a daily entrance fee for Elevenmile Canyon that is in addition to the campground nightly fee. That daily pass is not accepted for entrance to Eleven Mile State Park or Spinney Mountain State Park.
