It’s close proximity to Lake George Reservoir, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Eleven Mile State Park and Spinney Mountain State Park makes it a popular camping destination! Located at an elevation of 8200 feet, the standard camping season for Blue Mountain campground is May through early October, weather permitting. Each of this campgrounds 21 sites has a table and fire ring and there is one hand pump water spigot that serves the whole campground.  Pine trees are scattered throughout the campground, providing shade in some of the sites. There are also open sites in this Pike National Forest Campground.

The roads and aprons in this campground are all dirt. The camping aprons of this Park County Colorado campground range in length from 16 feet to 40 feet, with a maximum trailer length restriction of 25 feet. All the sites are spacious and widely dispersed from each other. Two of the campsites are for tents only,  the remaining sites can accommodate a combination of RV’s and tents.

There are two vault style toilets in the Blue Mountain National Forest Campground. There is no dump station at this campground, although there is a dump station less than a mile down the road at the Travel-Port Campground.

Activities in the area are plentiful! If you enjoy fishing you’ll have a number of options: Lake George Reservoir, the South Platte River, Eleven Mile Reservoir and Spinney Reservoir. Sight seeing opportunities include; the town of Lake George, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, Eleven Mile State Park and Spinney Mountain State Park. Plus, hiking and mountain biking on the forest roads and trails near Blue Mountain campground are abundant.

Location: From Lake George turn off of Highway 24 onto County Road 96.  Follow the road for about 1 mile toward Elevenmile Canyon and take a right at the fork onto Blue Mountain Rd/County Road 61. Continue on Forest Road 244 to the campground. Total distance: 1.4 miles (5 mins)
