The Belle of Colorado campground is located on the east side of Turquoise Lake, close by the Colorado town of Leadville. All 19 campsites in this San Isabel National Forest campground are walk in Tent Only sites. The treed hillside where the Belle of Colorado campground is located provides a nice view of the lake. Being on the shore of Turquoise Lake makes this a popular high altitude camping destination, so getting there early helps to assure you get a spot!
There are lots of things to do while you’re staying at the Belle of Colorado. Boating, fishing and other water sports, plus biking, hiking and backpacking on one of the many trails in the area. There’s lots of wildlife in the area too, so wildlife viewing is a very popular past time here. You might consider taking a scenic drive or two, this whole area is filled with Colorado history. The town of Leadville is a must see. Some of the richest figures in western history got their start in this high altitude mountain town!
