Vaughn Lake Campground is a small, high altitude campground located in the Routt National Forest, not far from Phippsburg and Oak Creek. It has only 6 sites, offers picnic tables, fire pits with grates, toilet facilities but NO water on site. The usual season for this campground is Memorial day through September 30th depending on the weather. It’s a scenic location next to the Flat Tops Scenic Byway and has Aspen trees and a beautiful view of Vaughn Lake.
Activities in the area include trout fishing in Vaughn Lake, and scenic drives, mountain biking and hiking in the nearby Flat Tops Wilderness area. The Dunckley Pass area is beautiful and offers much in the way of scenery, wildlife and trails. This is bear country so be extremely cautious when storing food. Have your camera ready for sightings of elk, deer, and many bird species.

| Location: From Yampa, follow Cty Rd 17 NW for 5 miles to Cty Rd 132. Follow Cty Rd 132 West for 2.5 miles to the Forest boundary where it becomes Forest HWY 16. Continue on Hwy 16 for another 23 miles, to the campground. |
