Robbers Roost campground is located in Arapaho National Forest at the base of Berthoud Pass a few miles before Winter Park, Colorado. It’s right off Highway 40 in a dense stand of spruce trees near the Fraser River. It’s a quiet campground with dirt roads, 11 sites which are suited to tents or small trailers, 2 water hydrants and one non-handicapped accessible restroom. The usual season for this campground is Memorial Day through Labor Day depending on the weather. Because this is a high altitude campground, be prepared for temperatures to fluctuate fairly dramatically. Layering clothing is helpful in keeping warm and comfortable.

Activities in the area include trout fishing in the Fraser River alongside of the campground, mountain biking, hiking in nearby Mary Jane Ski Trail, Sevenmile Ski Trail, Mount Nystrom trail in the Vasquez Peak Wilderness, and Berthoud Pass trails. Winter Park Village offers family entertainment and recreation of all sorts, including the Alpine Slide, a mountain bike trail ride from the Gondola drop off at the top of the ski mountain, and many fun activities. Other campgrounds are nearby on the way to Winter Park, including Midland Group Campground, and Idlewild.
