Pearl Lake Campground - Pearl Lake State Park, ColoradoPearl Lake campground is located on the shore of Pearl Lake in Colorado’s Pearl Lake State Park. This campground has 36 campsites arranged into two separate loops, the Pearl Lake Campground Upper Loop and the Pearl Lake Campground Lower Loop. The campsites are all designed to accommodate tents, trailers and small motor homes. The largest sites will only accommodate 30 foot RV equipment. Tight turning radius’ will make this campground difficult for larger vehicles to navigate. Of the 36 total sites, 16 are pull-through sites and 1 (site 35) is ADA compliant. There are also two Yurts that can be reserved, sites 6 and 16 located in the upper loop. The lower loop campsites (24-38) are only 10-50 yards away from the lake.  Nestled in the Routt National Forest north of Steamboat Springs Colorado, this small campground offers a peaceful and quiet camping spot. Pearl Lake campground is naturally shaded by spruce, fir and lodgepole pine trees. The landscape has changed some recently with the removal of many pine trees due to the pine beetle infestation in the area. The typical season for this campground is May through mid-October, weather permitting.

Canoeing on Pearl Lake - Pearl Lake State Park, ColoradoActivities abound in and around Pearl Lake. Fishing Pearl Lakes Gold Medal waters for native Cutthroat trout is always an exciting activity. Paddling around the wakeless restricted lake is a real joy. The quiet, pristine environment of the lake will have you paddling and coasting around the lake for hours! There’s also some great hiking in the area. The Pearl Lake Connection Trail will take you from the campground down to the dam on an easy 1 hour round trip hike. Bike’s are also allow on this trail in case you brought the mountain bike along. Everyone will enjoy the views of Pearl Lake and Farewell Mountain as they travel this trail. Up for something longer? Follow the Pearl Lake Connection Trail to the Routt National Forest Service Coulton Creek trail. Traveling the the two trails will extend your hike up to a 12 mile round trip.

One flush toilet (in lower loop) , three vault toilets, water hydrants, picnic tables, 14 x 14 ft tent pads and boat ramp. Guests of Pearl Lake Campground may use the shower, laundry, swim beach and dump station facilities at Steamboat Lake State Park just a short distance away.

Additional Information

  • Reservations are highly recommended as the Pearl Lake campground is a very popular Colorado camping destination. Some first-come, first-serve sites may be available.
  • There is a 14 day maximum stay allowed per park during any 45 day period and only 6 people are allowed per campsite. Allowable combinations are: One passenger vehicle and two tents; or one motorized vehicle towing a camping trailer and one tent (if space allows). If space permits, one additional passenger vehicle and/or motorcycle may be parked at a campsite.
  • A vehicle pass is required for all vehicles entering a State Park. Vehicle fees are separate from camping fees. If a motorized, towed vehicle is being brought into a park, a pass is required for that vehicle.
  • Pets must be kept on a six foot leash and be under control at all times. Please remember to pick up after your pets, failure to do so may result in a fine.
  • Please review the bulletin board or consult the campground host for specific rules, regulations and restrictions in this campground
  • NOTE: Do not bring firewood from another State, firewood can spread harmful insect pests and diseases. Help protect Colorado’s public lands by acquiring local firewood at or near the campground where you’re staying. Contact the Colorado Department of Agriculture immediately for instructions on how to dispose of any firewood brought in from another state.
