Meadows Campground is located in the Routt National Forest on Rabbit Ears Pass between Kremmling and Steamboat Springs. It’s a high altitude campground at 9,300 ft. in elevation near the west summit of the pass. There are 30 campsites in the Meadows and each has a table, fireplace grate, and access to water, vault toilets and a dumpster. The usual season for this campground is Memorial Day through Labor Day, depending on weather. The camp will remain open but on limited services through October.

Activities in the area include mountain biking or hiking along the Percy Lake Trail, Divide Trail, Buffalo Park Trail, Rabbit Ears Peak Trail or Service Creek Trail. The Fish Creek Falls Trail is nearby and the area has conifer, evergreens and sage, streams and meadows full of flowers. Fishing in Walton Creek or Dumont Lake, and Lake Catamount is nearby offering trout fishing and panoramic beauty. Wildlife watching and birding are popular in the area. You may encounter Moose, elk, deer, bobcat and more. Be aware, you are in bear country, so use extreme caution when storing food. Due to the Mountain Pine Beetle, damaged trees have been culled from the area, which may alter the amount of shade within the campground.

Location: From Steamboat Springs, CO, travel east on HWY 40 (Rabbit Ears Pass)12.4 miles to campground sign (NFSR 297). Turn right onto NFSR 297 into campground.

Note: full services can be found in either direction from the pass – Kremmling (east) and Steamboat Springs (west)
