Hinman Park Campground is located in the Routt National Forest, is close to Pearl Lake State Park and Steamboat Lake. It has 13 sites which all have tables, fireplace grates, access to water and vault toilets and a dumpster. The usual season for this campground is Memorial Day to Labor Day depending on the weather. The campground sits in a valley with the Elk River on one side and rock outcroppings on the other. You are close by the Mount Zirkel Wilderness and the area is beautiful with meadow flowers and wildlife.
Activities in the area include trout fishing in Hinman Creek, Pearl Lake, Steamboat Lake, Hahn’s Peak Lake, and river fishing in the Elk River. If you enjoy mountain biking or hiking, look for the Hinman Creek Trail, South Fork Trail, Elk Park Trail, Chilton Trail, Swamp Park Trail, Coulton Creek Trail and the Roaring Fork Trail. If whitewater paddling is what you want, try Encampment River and Elk River for some kayak fun.
