Hahn’s Peak Lake Campground is located in the Routt National Forest at an elevation of 8,500 ft., about 30 miles from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It’s near the town of Hahn’s Peak, a charming small mountain community across from Steamboat Lake State Park. There are 25 campsites, and two loops in the campground, the first is called Lakeside and has all the pull-through sites and overlook the lake. The second loop is called Forest and is in the thick stand of spruce, fir and Lodgepole Pine. All sites are suitable for RV and tenting. This is a newly renovated campground as of 2009, has beautiful scenery, wildflowers and wildlife. Please remember this is bear country, so be extremely cautious when storing food.
Activities in the area include trout fishing on Hahn’s Peak Lake, Steamboat Lake and Pearl Lake. You may take a non-motorized boat onto Hahn’s Peak Lake, and there is motorized boating and water skiing opportunity on Steamboat Lake. The usual season for this campground is Memorial Day through mid-October and reservations are recommended. Hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding are popular activities and many nearby trails are available. Nipple Peak Loop is popular for biking and West Side Lake Trail for hiking.
