Green Ridge Campground is located in the Arapaho National Forest and is at the sound end of Shadow Mountain Reservoir. The 78 sites are divided into two loops – Loop A contains 41 and Loop B have 37 sites. There are a few tent sites, but most are suitable for RV’s. The road through the camp is paved, there is one water hydrant and two restrooms in each loop. An Arapaho National Recreation Area permit is required for camping here. The season will usually run from end of May through mid-September. Look for the viewing platform for Eagle and Osprey bird watching.
Activities in the area include: Fishing for Rainbow, Brown, Mackinaw and Cutthroat trout as well as Kokanee Salmon is available in Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Lake Granby, also in the Colorado River which is on the west side of the campground. The area below the dam is considered as having the best fly fishing in the Arapaho National Forest. Hiking is on the nearby East Shore Trail which is part of the 3,200 mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail; motorized boats are permitted on Shadow Mountain Reservoir and Lake Granby. There is a boat ramp at the campground. The campground is near the Rocky Mountain National Park and visitor’s center, and picnics, day trips and wildlife sightseeing are enjoyable for the family. 9 miles Trail provides foot and horse access to a network of trails in the Rocky Mountain National Park, including AA Barn Loop Trail, Roaring Fork, and Monarch Lake Trail loop. Please note: Due to the Mountain Pine Beetle, the Lodgepole pine trees have been culled to prevent further damage.

| Location: Take I-70 to US 40. Travel north on US 40 to Granby. Turn right on US 34 just north of Granby. Travel approximately 12 miles to the entrance to Shadow Mountain Recreation Area. Turn right an drive about .5 miles to the campground. The campsites are located on the left side of the road on the south side of Shadow Mountain Reservoir. |
