Freeman Reservoir Campground is located in the Routt National Forest about 12 miles north of Craig, and close to the Wyoming border. It sits in a beautiful meadow area and looks out to the Black Mountain. The campground has 17 sites and the pull-throughs are small at 22 feet. There are tables, fireplace grates and water along with dumpsters and vault toilets for the campers use. The usual season for this campground is mid-June through October 31 depending on weather.

Activities in the area include hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding on many trails in the area. Freeman Reservoir has fishing and non-motorized boating on the lake. A small boat ramp is available near the camp. Because of the location, this is a nice base camp for hikers and horseback riders to access trails in the area. There are lots of Aspen, wildflowers and a few conifer trees, such as Subalpine fir, in a thick grass understory.There are also corrals at the entrance to the campground. Please remember that this is bear country, so be extremely cautious when storing food.

Location: Beginning at Craig, CO – travel 12 miles north of Craig, CO on US HWY 13 north 11.8 miles to Freeman Reservoir sign (County Rd 11). Turn right at the sign onto County Rd 11 (gravel) continue on the gravel road for 9.9 miles to the campground.
