The Crags Campground Site 1The Crags Campground, in Colorado’s State Forest State Park, offers  visitors 26 developed sites. Many of the campsites are situated along Four Mile Creek. Because the the area in and around this campground is steep, narrow and winding, it is not recommended for trailers or motor homes. There are no defined tent pads in this site, so please show consideration for the forest when selecting a spot for your equipment. Each site is very private due to the thick growth of Spruce trees. There is also a nice distance between each site.

The Crags Campground Site 13Hiking is a very popular activity in this area, but there are many other activities to enjoy when visiting this campground. State Forest State Park is packed with fun family activities. Fishing, canoeing and kayaking at North Michigan Reservoir and Ranger Lakes are some of your choices. These beautiful high mountain lakes are well worth the visit. They are both restricted to wakeless travel so the area around the lakes is peaceful and serene. If you enjoy fishing, you might consider staying a few nights at the North Michigan campground, right on the shores of North Michigan Reservoir. You can drive down to the Ranger Lakes campground and catch an interpretive programs presented by State Park Rangers in the campgrounds amphitheater. Other activities include, bird watching, biking, horseback riding, photography, wildlife viewing, OHV riding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing and snow sledding.

Directions to The Crags Campground in State Forest State Park

Location: From the Ft Collins area, travel west on CO-14 (Poudre Canyon Hghway) for approximately 72 miles to County Road 62, turn left (south) on County Road 62 and travel about 1.5 miles to the Crags Campground. From the Walden area, travel east on CO-14 about 19 miles, Turn right on County Road 62 and travel about 1.5 miles to the Crags Campground.

Additional Information

  • Reservations are recommended for any weekend stays including Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays and stays longer than 2 nights. Some first-come, first-serve sites may be available.
  • There is a 14 day maximum stay allowed per park during any 45 day period and only 6 people are allowed per campsite. Allowable combinations are: One passenger vehicle and two tents; or one motorized vehicle towing a camping trailer and one tent (if space allows). If space permits, one additional passenger vehicle and/or motorcycle may be parked at a campsite.
  • A vehicle pass is required for all vehicles entering a State Park.  Vehicle fees are separate from camping fees.  If a motorized, towed vehicle is being brought into a park, a pass is required for that vehicle.
  • Pets must be kept on a six foot leash and be under control at all times. Please remember to pick up after your pets, failure to do so may result in a fine.
  • Please review the bulletin board or consult the campground host for specific rules, regulations and restrictions in this campground
  • NOTE: Do not bring firewood from another State, firewood can spread harmful insect pests and diseases. Help protect Colorado’s public lands by acquiring local firewood at or near the campground where you’re staying. Contact the Colorado Department of Agriculture immediately for instructions on how to dispose of any firewood brought in from another state.
