Tom Bennett Campground is part of the Roosevelt National Forest and is a high altitude campground with no water on siteTom Bennett Campground is located in the Roosevelt National Forest 15 miles south of the Cache La Poudre Canyon. It’s near many other campground locations, and the Pingree Park Campus of CSU, but removed from any major city or town by about 50 miles. It’s a high altitude campground at an elevation of 9,000 ft. and is situated in spruce, Lodgepole pine and aspen trees. There are 12 sites in the campground mostly suited to tenting, or small campers. The roads in the camp are dirt, there is no water available and only one non-handicapped accessible restroom. The season for this campground is usually Memorial Day through Labor Day depending on the weather.

Cirque Lake near Tom Bennett campground is one of many nearby places for Colorado fishing, hiking, kayaking and picnicsActivities in the area include trout fishing in the South Fork of Cache La Poudre River, Fish Creek and Beaver Creek, mountain biking and 4-wheel driving on the many jeep trails around. If you enjoy hiking, there is Comanche Peak Wilderness, Rocky Mountain National Park areas, Emmaline Lake, Stormy Peaks Trail, Mummy Pass, Lost Lake Trail, Hourglass Trail, Signal Mountain Trail, Lory State Park and more. Whitewater rafting is popular on the Cache La Poudre, and South Fork area, and more tame rafting in Beaver Creek. Be sure to pack in and pack out in this campground, and be extremely cautious with food storage, you are in bear country.

Directions to Tom Bennett Campground

Location: Drive 10 miles north of Fort Collins on Highway 287. Turn left onto Highway 14. Drive approximately 26 miles west on Hwy 14 (Poudre Canyon Hwy). Turn left on to Pingree Park Road (County Road 63E). Go south approximately 17 miles to the campground.

Please note: the nearest full service town from this campground is almost 50 miles away in Laporte, CO
