The Pawnee Campground is located in Roosevelt National Forest within the Brainard Lake Recreation Area. This campground sits at an elevation of 10,350 feet and has 55 sites, all of which are suited to RV’s. The roads in the campground are gravel, there are 8 water hydrants and 6 restrooms. The usual season for this campground is mid-June through mid-October depending on the weather. Because this campground resides within the Brainard Lake Recreation Area, there is an additional day use fee assessed to campsites. A picnic area is available for use and is busy with visitors during the weekends and holidays. Dogs are allowed in camp but only on a leash at all times.
Activities in the area include scenic drives on the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, or see the nearby Caribou Ranch. Trout fishing is all around in Brainard Lake, Mitchell Lake, Blue Lake, Red Rock Lake and Long Lake. Indian Peaks Wilderness area is beautiful for hiking and recreation. Additional hiking areas include Mitchell Creek, Pawnee Pass, South St. Vrain, Sourdough Trail, Waldrop North, Jean Luning and CMC South. If you are in Red Rock, the trailhead will take you to the Sourdough Trail, which is also popular for mountain biking. Due to the altitude, remember to dress in layers for comfort and safety, and be cautious with activity until acclimated.

| Location: Located within the Brainard Lake Recreation Area. Drive 17 miles west of Boulder on Colorado Highway 119 to the town of Nederland. Go north on Highway 72 for 13 miles to the Brainard Lake Road (also known as County Road 102 and National Forest System Road (NFSR) 112), just north of the town of Ward. Turn west on the paved road; Pawnee Campground is approximately five miles west on NFSR 112. | |

Additional Information
- Sites are reservable from the first Friday after the Fourth of July through Labor Day weekend. All even-numbered sites can be reserved and the odd-numbered sites are first come, first served. Reservations must be made at least 5 days prior to arrival and may be made up to 180 days in advance.
