Meeker Park Campground is located in the Roosevelt National Forest just miles away from Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, Colorado. It is a weekend overflow campground because of the popular nature of Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, with 29 sites that accommodate all types of camping. It is a wooded and rustic type campground, so tenting is the easiest mode of camping. Ten of the sites are somewhat suitable for RV, but the dirt roads in the campground can be a little rough. There is no water available on site, and only three portable toilets for restrooms. The usual season for this area is mid-May through mid-September. Dogs are allowed, but on a leash at all times. If you want a more full-service campground, three miles south you’ll find Olive Ridge Campground.
Activities in the area include mountain biking, hiking and visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, four trail heads within 5 miles of the campground: Longs Peak Trail Head (2 miles north of camp) and Wild Basin (2 miles south) as well as St. Vrain Mountain and Twin Sisters. There is kayaking on St. Vrain Creek, the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway is a wonderful drive, and Estes Park is a beautiful town to visit and see. Big Thompson Canyon is scenic and the river is good fishing. Trout fishing is available in many lakes and streams within the R.M.N. Park. Horseback riding is a great way to spend some time sightseeing, and the stables in Estes Park are close by.
Additional Services Available:
Fire rings, portable toilets and trash services are provided. There are no picnic tables, grills, electrical hook-ups, dump stations, drinking water stations or showers.
