The river runs through the campground, so there are two sections connected by a bridge. The roads are paved and there are 3 water hydrants and 4 restrooms, 3 of which are handicapped accessible. The usual season for this campground is Memorial Day through Labor Day, depending on weather.
Activities in the area include trout fishing in Cache La Poudre River next to campground, hiking on the nearby Mount McConnel Trail which begins in the Mountain Park campground about a mile to the east, and mountain biking on 4-wheel drive jeep roads across Highway 14. The Poudre Canyon Highway provides many miles of scenic drive and pullouts to enjoy the views. Red Feather Lakes is also nearby and makes a great day trip for fishing and sightseeing.
