This campground named Cold Springs is in Gilpin County off Golden Gate Canyon RoadCold Springs Campground is found in the Arapaho National Forest in Gilpin County, Colorado. It’s located off Golden Gate Canyon Road on Hwy 119 and is surrounded by Lodgepole pine and aspen trees. Of the 38 sites in the campground, 35 are suitable for RV use and the remaining 3 are more suited to tenting. The roads through the camp are gravel, there are 4 communal water hydrants. There are 4 restrooms, two of which are handicapped accessible. The season for this campground is usually from mid-May through mid-September. Day use and picnic areas are also available.

Historic Central City Colorado and Black Hawk are only a few miles awayIt’s only 5 miles to the historic mining town of Black Hawk which was settled in 1859 during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. Adjacent to that is the historic Central City, which flourished during the same time period. Both towns offer casino gambling as well as a museum like look into the late 1800′s of Colorado history. Popular events include Lou Bunch Days, Central City Opera, and the Jazz Festival. Activities in the area include Golden Gate Canyon State Park, vistas and scenery, fishing at Golden Gate Canyon Park, and along the Boulder Canyon by Nederland, scenic drives along the Peak to Peak Highway. Mountain biking and wildlife watching are also popular, and there are many areas for rock climbing in Boulder Canyon.

Directions to Cold Springs Campground

Location: From Denver, off I-25 take 6th Avenue west to State Highway 6, through Clear Creek Canyon. Proceed north on State Highway 119. Campground is located 5 miles north of Blackhawk. You can also access State Highway 119 from I-70 at Exit 244.
