Big Bend Campground is located in the upper Poudre River Canyon. This Roosevelt National Forest campground is open year round. When water is not available in the winter months, the site daily fee is half price. For those wanting to be up close to the Poudre River, there are a few walk-in tent sites near the river bank.

There are many things to do and see in the area. Big Bend is close by a big horn sheep viewing area as well as the Poudre River fish hatchery. The Comanche Peak wilderness, Rawah Wilderness and Neota Wilderness are all a short drive away, providing ample opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, scenic drives and OHV excursions. For hikers, Comanche Peak wilderness Roaring Creek Trailhead is adjacent to the Big Bend campground. Being located on the Cache La Poudre River provides additional recreation choices; rafting, kayaking and fishing to name a few. Other water resources in the area include all the lakes in the Red Feather Lakes area as well as; Chambers Lake, Lost Lake, Laramie Lake, Barnes Meadow Reservoir and Joe Wright Reservoir.

Directions to Big Bend Campground

Location: Drive 11 miles north of Fort Collins on Highway 287. Turn left onto Highway 14 and travel approximately 39 miles west to the campground.

Be prepared when visiting this campground, it’s at least a one hour drive to the closest grocery stores and gas stations. If needed, these services can be found in Walden, Red Feather Lakes and Poudre Park Colorado.
