Frisco Nordic Center

Frisco Nordic Center image by flickrThe Frisco Nordic Center works in conjunction with the Breckenridge Nordic Center. When you include the Gold Run Nordic, you have three great choices for cross-country fun in the area. The center in Frisco has a new location at the Peninsula Recreation Area and opens for the 2010-11 season on November 18th. The winter season can be so much fun when you have beautiful areas to enjoy, and Frisco has amazing scenery and a variety of terrain to ski.  There are flat ball fields for the beginner to rolling easy intermediate terrain along the shores of Lake Dillon and for the advanced skier – Gold Rush double black diamond expert terrain. With more than 46 Km of trails for skiers, the Frisco Nordic Center has something for everyone.

When you need some instruction, the Nordic Center offers lessons, rental equipment and even Nordic competitions to watch or participate in. All season, from mid November to early April, there are fun activities at the Frisco Nordic Center. Special events include: Group discounts, family fun days, Learn-To-Ski Frisco Free programs, citizen’s races/participation fund-raisers, and Susan G. Kommen “Romp To Stomp” out breast cancer fun walk and run. The Colorado Cross Country Ski Association highly recommends this Nordic Center. “We offer Ski Lessons & Snowshoe Adventures 4 times daily by reservation, and ski/snowshoe combination adventures for the whole family. Offered everyday 9am, 10:30am, 12:30pm & 2pm, some evenings as well by Starlight.”

“Sessions go out for 1  1/4,  2  1/4 and 3  1/4 hours in Private or Private Group sessions. Go with a trained ski instructor or interpretive guide for the best introduction to the sport, skill development, history of the mountains and mining area. Ticket prices are for Adults (18-59 yrs), Seniors (60+) and Youth (7-17), the 6 and Under kids Ski FREE. Equipment rentals, child pull sled rentals, play areas, snow tunnels, igloos, etc. are available.”

Whether you are cross country skiing, Skijoring (Ski Joring), skating or snowshoeing, you will have a wonderful time at the Nordic Center. Ski to the top of the Crown Point Road Trail and take in the beautiful mountaintop vistas. Enjoy a cocoa or sleigh ride dinner with Two Below Zero Sleigh Rides. Join a ski/snowshoe combo Adventure Tour. Enjoy the log lodge, skiers lounge, snack bar with whipped hot chocolate, and sun deck. Also, something new in the 2010-11 season, the Frisco Adventure Park will open a lift served Tubing & Snowboard Terrain Park to the existing free Sledding Hills, to open by Christmas 2010. And finally, the new BMX Biking Terrain Park will open Spring 2011.
