Ski With a Ranger is an opportunity for the United States Forest Service, Friends of Dillon Ranger District, and Breckenridge Ski Resort to partner and provide guided interpretive tours for the purpose of highlighting the resources of the White River National Forest and the resort’s environmental commitments. Volunteer Rangers guide a 1 hour ski or snowboard tour down an intermediate trail on Peak 7 at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Participants meet in the Peak 7 base area on the plaza between the Peak 7 terminal of the BreckConnect Gondola and the Independence SuperChair at 11:00 a.m. on Fridays from December 18, 2011 through April 2, 2012.

The Ski With a Ranger tour is free to participants, but a lift ticket and at least intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability are required. Each tour follows the naturalist guide through several planned stops on the mountain to learn about topics of interest, including: Local Wildlife, Lifecycle of the Mountain Pine Beetle, Tree Types and Identification, Avalanche Awareness, Local History and Resort Environmental Programs.
