Glenwood Springs Turns 125 This Year!
Be a part of the 125th Anniversary of Glenwood Springs, Colorado this year. There are many events and activities going on to help celebrate this special occasion. Over the last century, many legendary people have enjoyed visiting Glenwood Springs, from Doc Holliday to Hollywood movie stars to US Presidents and tycoons. Market Street at the Glenwood Meadows
Be at the Glenwood Springs Festival on August 13th when the Market Street shops host an event to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Roaring Fork Valley Relay for Life. Stroll the Shops and view nostalgic decorations from the past 125 years. On Friday, August 13 there will be a raffle for great prizes, live music, cupcakes from the new Roaring Fork Bakery and more! Raffle tickets will be $5. Attendees will need to fill out a Glenwood Springs history questionnaire and visit each participating location to be entered.
125th Anniversary Exhibit Artist Reception
Also on August 13th at 6:00 p.m. The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts will be celebrating the town heritage through area landscapes and historical art. The 125th Anniversary Exhibit Artist Reception will be at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts located at 601 E. 6th Street. This event is FREE! Enjoy appetizers, libations, and mingle with the talented local artists! The Exhibit will be on display until September 19, 2010. Admission to the exhibit is always free.
Glenwood Springs: 125 Years in Photos
On Thursday, August 19th at 7:00 p.m. the Glenwood Springs Branch Library and Frontier Historical Society will present “Glenwood Springs: 125 Years in Photos”. Museum director, Cindy Hines will share nearly 100 photographs from the Frontier Historical Society Museum’s collection in a photographic history of our community which celebrates 125 years in 2010. These photos show the people, the places, and the evolution of Glenwood Springs. All ages are welcome to this free, public event and refreshments will be served. Glenwood Springs Founder’s Day
Saturday, August 28th, the Glenwood Springs Elementary School will host a celebration of life in Glenwood Springs 125 years ago. Enjoy live music, BBQ, a kid’s parade, pie contest, storytellers, old fashioned games and more! The school is at 916 School Street. There are more things to discover and enjoy during the months of August and September in Glenwood Springs, so make your plans to come and be a part of the fun!
